As the dust settles on the launch of Apple’s new iPhones, more details have started to come in about the upcoming iPhone 12 series of devices. The new series consists of four new phones, the iPhone 12 mini, the iPhone 12, the iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Max Pro, which were launched at the company’s Hi, Speed launch event.
At the launch, the company had revealed some crucial details about the device, however, it stayed clear of revealing some key information about the device, including just how much RAM these phones will come with.
But now according to new information revealed via the plist files in the Xcode 12.1 beta accessed by MacRumours, the RAM details of the phones have also leaked online. As per the information, the iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max models are equipped with 6GB of RAM, while the lower-end iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 mini models bring with them 4GB of RAM.
It is important to note that this is not the first time that plist files have revealed the amount of RAM being used on an iPhone. In fact, tipsters have had a lot of joy revealing RAM details about iPhones in the past using this method.
The information revealed by the plist files has also been corraborated partially by a Geekbench listing which claims the iPhone 12 Pro gets 6GB of RAM. If this new information is correct, it will represent a significant leap over previous generation iPhones, which as we remember were all equipped with 4GB of RAM.
Talking about the phone, the iPhone 12 series is available in four models this year. The iPhone 12 mini and iPhone 12 sport 5.4-inch and 6.1-inch display respectively. Both panels are Super Retina XDR OLED displays that do not support super-fast 120Hz refresh rates.
The iPhone 12 Pro also comes with a 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR OLED panel that again runs at the same refresh rate as the more affordable iPhone 12 mini and iPhone 12. The iPhone 12 Pro Max features the biggest panel on an iPhone this year with a 6.7-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display.
Under the hood, all four iPhones are powered by the company’s new A14 Bionic chipset which promises improved overall performance and faster machine learning with its next-generation Neural Engine. As Apple has explained in the past, this chipset is the most advanced that Apple has created to date, which makes the new iPhone 12 series phones the more power-efficient and faster than previous iPhones.
Apple claims the A14 Bionic brings in serious gains to the iPhone 12 series. As such, when compared to the iPhone 11 series, the chipset helps ensure that the new iPhone offers better performance per core for single as well as multi-threaded applications, even as it consumes less energy per core while doing so.
Moving on to the cameras, the iPhone 12 mini gets a dual camera set-up with a 12-megapixel wide-angle camera and a 12-megapixel ultrawide-angle lens sat next to each other. The iPhone 12 also gets the same dual-camera set-up which is found on the iPhone 12 mini.
The iPhone 12 Pro and Pro Max get a better triple camera set-up with 12-megapixel F1.6 primary camera, a 12-megapixel telephoto camera, and a 12-megapixel ultrawide camera along with a LiDAR sensor. Last, but not least, the iPhone 12 Pro Max also gets some extra features to improve photography performance on the device.
